Port Labs launches Oakland Hardware Meetup

A Community for Product Development

We’re excited to bring together a network of thinkers and doers whom we know will solve big problems at this really critical time when we as a society have so many big challenges. Oakland is a place where solutions will emerge, and we’re thrilled to be enabling that activity.
— Sal Bednarz, Port Labs

Port Labs is proud to be launching the Oakland Hardware Meetup. This is a place for engineers, inventors, designers, founders, investors, and others interested in hard product development. We are partnering with Nate Padgett, co-founder of the SF Hardware Meetup, along with hardware meetups in Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Toronto, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New England (Burlington, VT), New York City, and Boston. The combined memberships for these meetups is nearly 10,000.

The Oakland Hardware Meetup will be conducted as a hybrid in-person / online event. Participants can come in person, or join remotely by Zoom.

The East Bay is a place where hardware innovation is happening, and the community of local inventors and entrepreneurs need a place to advance their ideas. A big part of that work is connecting with peers, and building professional networks, which is what our meetups across the country support really well.
— Nate Padgett, Hardware Meetup co-founder

We are creating a founder-focused community, and exploring topics beyond engineering and technical problem-solving. Future meetups will explore a range of topics including: intellectual property protection, supply chain and vendor management, customer-focused product development, and access to capital.

This first event will include presentations from several founders in the East Bay and Northern California - visit our community on Meetup for latest on lineup.
