Breathable - A Service Business Develops a Consumer Product Line

Breathable is a longtime Port Labs member which recently launched a new product. Their historical business model has been to improve air quality for residential customers throughout the Bay Area, by retrofitting existing systems with better filters, and servicing their systems regularly to ensure their continuing performance. From this service business, founder Nir Biderman identified an opportunity - to launch his own branded filter that meets the high standards of his service business. He found that the market was not meeting this need well, and he knew he could do better.
Breathable has been manufacturing a branded filter enclosure for his customers for some time - manufacturing using offshore sheet metal fabricators in runs of a couple hundred units at a time. This product has allowed his service team to perform better installs, and made service easier. He took the learnings he developed through this manufacturing initiative into the development of his filter product.
The Breathable filter has excellent fume and particulate extraction properties, and it’s high-flow design means it can be fitted to a wide range of systems without hindering the heating and cooling performance of those systems. Breathable is distributing their product direct to their customers, and recently launched on Amazon.
